e is for elephant

Mommy and I struggled coming up with a good topic for letter 'E'.  I like to eat eggs... raw, hard boiled or scrambled but that's rather boring.  Besides, who doesn't?  In the end we decided it would be a great idea, and allow me to demonstrate how smart I am, if mommy bought a brand new toy starting with the letter E and we showed you how quickly I learn the names of all my toys!

Firstly, I just want to say, I always know when mommy's brought home a new toy. She thinks it's because I can smell them but she doesn't realize the truth is I've learnt to recognize the way she acts whenever she brings one home!  Hehe.  Here are some photos of me raiding the bag as soon as she got home and fishing out the new toy (Dorothy still doesn't get it):

Then within the next 3 or 4 minutes I learnt his name.  I know the names of all my toys (unlike Dorothy) and whenever mommy or daddy say 'go get (any name of any toy)...' I know exactly which toy they mean so I grab it out of the toy box and bring it straight over! Sometimes mommy gives me a treat but mostly us playing with the toy together is the treat :)

  1. Clever boy. Trudy knows "Where's the puller?" She dashes off to find any one of her six pull toys. Heidi does not care much for toys. She prefers the more hands on approach to play.

  3. I wish my dog knew the names of her toys! We ask her to get her ball, and she brings back anything she can find!

    1. hehe, this sounds just like our little Dorothy. Unfortunately her brain isn't one of the reasons we love her :)

  5. I always say there is no such thing as stupid dogs only stupid owners.. you are clearly very smart - i wonder if you are good at sharing your toys too.

    1. Haha Ida, I just got done saying (above) that our other baby isn't a clever one so 100% guaranteed that it's all Baxter! Since the first day we brought him home he has SHOCKED us with his mental capacity. He very obviously thinks about things before our eyes and is wonderful at problem solving (mazes, hiding, seeking, reaching things) as well as retention. We often compare him to a three year old child and feel very blessed that although we don't have children the universe has given us such an amazing dog :)

PS: I'm much better at sharing now than I was when I was a kid
